Dr. Sciubba of Johns Hopkins called me tonight. He received my pathology slides from the biopsy I had of the gland under my chin on 7/2. These were sent from UPenn yesterday and he received them today (at his home) which I sent to him for a second opinion and he looked at them tonight and confirmed Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC).
He thinks it is very important to get the biopsy of the tumor in my chest done ASAP so we can see what this one shows and thus develop the best possible treatment protocol. I will follow up with the doctors at UPenn tomorrow to see where they're at with scheduling the surgery.
He also thinks it is a very unusual (atypical) presentation of ACC as do all of the doctors I've spoken with who specialize in these types of cancer.
He is an INCREDIBLY nice man who asked me to keep him in the loop with my progress!!!
I'm also meeting with Dr. Chang in NYC on Friday morning to get his input on my revised diagnosis.
Thanks for keeping me in your prayers!
Dan
